“Amazing again this year” We stayed at West Beaver Creek Lodge March 6th-9th. We had also stayed there last year, and we loved it so much we knew we would be back! Again, an amazing place that is incredibly located, not too far from the gondola–you could walk if you are ambitious, but also very close to the bus stops. The breakfasts were amazing, and we enjoyed chatting with Terry and Bob in the mornings. We stayed in the Master Bedroom Suite, which was very nice and perfectly sized for us. Lots of storage space for all of our stuff! I have nothing but praises to say about the West Beaver Creek Lodge, the owners are so kind and have a beautiful place! Thank you!
“Perfect place to stay with young family” We booked this delightful B and B last minute and from the moment we arrived Bob and Terry went out of their way to help us. Bob drove us around the town and showed us the easiest way to get up the ski village. They upgraded us from a studio to two bedrooms so the children had their own room. We were quite self contained on the ground floor with a fabulous living room, hot tub and kitchen pretty much to ourselves for a week. Bob showed us all the good local restaurants and we tried a few of those but also loved cooking for ourselves, great to eat in and self cater for a change. The town of Avon has a very good supermarket and an outstanding Liquor shop with a wine selection second to none. Although this is a bed and breakfast and we were treated to the most delicious hearty breakfast and complimentary snack bars, we could just as easily booked it for self catering which it is also set up for. This is the perfect place to rent as a ‘condo’ as well and next time we plan on bringing some friends along. The walk to the bus is short and easy however I would not want to do it with skis and boots as who wants to walk in ski boots anywhere! There are handy lockers up at Beaver Creek and you can leave your hire skis and poles up there for free. Beaver Creek is awesome, the best resort we have ever been to. Vail is also great and only 10 minutes down the road. Definitely recommend staying in Avon for the good restaurants and supermarkets and choosing where to ski each day. The lift passes cover both resorts. People we met staying up at Beaver Creek complained at the cost of restaurants and the inadequate supermarket there if you’re self catering. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at West Beaver Creek Lodge again. And thanks to Bob who woke us up on our final day and got us out the door and on the road quickly, or we would have been snowed in otherwise and missed our flights and connections home. We would recommend taking a car if you are staying here because although Bob kindly offered to drive us, you do really need a car to get around, either to the ski village for the free 2 hour parking there in the evening or just to get to the supermarket.
“Perfection and A Memory to Last a Lifetime” Terrie & Bob Borg have earned every accolade among their guests’ reviews. Every superlative deserves an underscore and a series of explanation points. We have traveled around the world several times (visiting 140 countries) and vactioned at world famous ski resorts in Europe, Eurasia and throughout the USA during the past 30 years. It is a joy to highly recommend West Beaver Creek Lodge. If you are seeking delightful and extremely comfortable accommodations, exceedingly warm and gracious hospitality and not just a wonderful vacation but a memory that will last a lifetime, then with great enthusiasm we recommend West Beaver Creek Lodge to you!!
“Perfect” When I had originally called to the Bed and Breakfast I wasn’t sure that when we had arrived that it would be what they had said. It was exactly what they had said. Perfect directions too. The accommodations were perfect. Many amenities Very good resident knowledge of the local area i.e. banks, groceries etc. We had such a wonderful time with the owners. They were very personal and friendly. We had a good time with them as well as the slopes. We will be back.
“Wonderful retreat close to all the action” I don’t write these reviews very often but my husband and I were so pleased with our recent three-night stay at the West Beaver Creek Lodge that I feel compelled to let others in on this sweet place. Our first night we arrived very late. Innkeepers, Terry and Bob Borg, had waited up for us to make sure that we had no problem finding the inn. We were immediately impressed by the cleanliness of both the common areas and our room. The next morning my husband had some business to attend to, and the owners were, again, more than helpful, letting him use their printer and fax while I asked questions planning our two days of skiing at Vail and Beaver Creek. Throughout the stay, the service continued to be top-notch– accommodating and helpful yet non-intrusive.But what really sets this inn apart– besides from the wonderful people who own it– is its unique blend of hotel, condo, and B&B. Generally, my husband and I find B&Bs too intimate. We want our private space (e.g. bathroom). But when staying in a place for a few days (or with children), a hotel can be difficult. Condos often require a full week commitment. So, what’s one to do? This place is the perfect answer. There is a kitchen, common area, and hot tub that are available to guests; there’s tons of flexibility in the size and type of rooms (you could even rent half of the inn and it would feel like your own condo– but it comes with breakfast); and while the owners live on site and this is technically a B&B, the space is well designed to afford privacy and rooms have their own bathrooms. We will definitely look forward to returning in the future. Hopefully, next time we will bring our daughter. This would be an absolutely ideal spot for a family or group.
“A truly unique Inn which surpassed our expectations.”The Inn provides clean spacious rooms with very comfortable beds. Large furnished common areas are available for guests to entertain extended family / friends. We found the Innkeepers ,Terry and Bob, to be extremely helpful and informative with a great deal of local knowledge of the Vail Valley and the surrounding areas.
“Peaceful, comfortable, wonderful experience!”We were so happy that we found this lodge on the internet. We stayed here while mountain biking in the area. The innkeepers were very accomodating to our early morning schedule and made sure we were fed well and had everything we needed before venturing out for the day. They upgraded us to a wonderful room that was warm, inviting and extremely comfortable. We loved that they allowed us to use the lodge kitchen as if it was our own and it made us feel like we were at home! I loved the robes, walk-in closet for all our sporting stuff and the bathroom was huge! I simply cannot think of one complaint to do with the room or service. However, we do wish the hot tub had been operational as our legs could have used it after mountain biking all day!
“July 4th fireworks”Group of 8 friends from the time we were teens and now late 50′s got together for 4th of July. We occupied 4 rooms. Highlight was the fireworks over the lake in Avon. Lodge has GREAT proximity to the park , literally a 2-3 minute walk.Teresa and Bob very affable. Couple of issues though. I objected to them wanting to charge my card 50% of the total charge 6 weeks before check-in. They backed that off to $100 but…when we arrived we were told that “our package” did not include any food service. No breakfast, no tea etc. This was NOT mentioned prior to arrival NOR was it stated in our reservation confirmation. Unfortunately It put a damper on the whole visit.
“What a great Bed and Breakfast!”We stayed here the second week and March, and we will definitely be going back. The Lodge:Very classy and nicely decorated. There is a common room with a pool table, as well as a big open room where you eat breakfast that has couches and a flat screen tv. The place really is beautiful. There is also an outdoor hot tub outside that is great after long days on the slopes. Nice to sit out there under the stars. The boot and glove dryers were also a nice plus if you are skiing and staying a few days. The Room:We stayed in a studio suite, which was very spacious with a King size bed, two single beds, and a pull out couch as well as a dining room table, fridge, and microwave. Vaulted ceilings and a wonderful view were also nice. The Food:Terrific!! We were there three days, and we had Belgian Waffles, Quiche, and Pancakes, as well as cereal, juice, fresh fruit, and coffee everyday. Much better than any sort of hotel continental breakfast! The Owners; What fabulous people! Were very honest and had some good recommendations for food and the easiest way to make our way to the various ski resorts. It was very nice to chat with them over breakfast. This was most definitely a small thing and we will most definitely be staying there again in the near future.
“Great B&B with welcoming caring hosts”Seeking a successor to the Savory Inn in Vail (now sadly closed), we fell upon this little gem and were not disappointed. Bob and Terrie have created a warm, welcoming atmosphere – in a cleverly designed combination of intercommunicating duplexes – so you can either take a room, suite or condo to suit individual needs. When we arrived, as it apparently had been a quiet week – we were automatically upgraded to the most enormous suite – which could have hosted a family of 6 – which immediately put us in a good mood!Spacious and comfortably furnished rooms made for a relaxing base, obviously designed as a home rather than very latest in fashion which would be out of date in five minutes – it offered everything we needed and gave good value. The lodge was well located for getting transport close by – and plenty of free parking right outside. As we wanted to visit resorts other than Vail and BC – not being directly on the mountain was not an downside – in fact, an advantage so we could get straight on the roads to the other ski resorts quickly.Terrie’s cooking did not disappoint as breakfasts were tasty and plentiful and choice varied each day – her delicious featherbed eggs are now part of our vocabulary! Although arriving as strangers – we left three days later feeling we had been staying with indulgent friends who really wanted to give us a lovely time and had achieved just that. If you want more than “just a hotel” – this is a winner.
“The Canadians”We have just returned from a week at the West Beaver Creek Lodge. Our group consists of 18 men who travel each winter to either the North American West or the Alps of Europe. We have tried and enjoyed a catered chalet in the Alps so we looked for one in America. We found a dandy. Bob and Terri the hosts were most hospitable. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed. We gathered each morning and evening in the dining living room. Breakfast was good and dinner was great. Our hosts were new the area well and were able to direct us about, No hesitation about recommending this jewel in Avon.
“Nice Surprise! Bed and Breakfast”We just stayed here for a few nights in March 2005. The innkeepers Bob and Terri are very nice. He is the architect and she the designer. We stayed in the 2 br condo room which was right by the hot tub. There is a large great room upstairs where the kitchen is and breakfast is served. Additionally, there is a loft with a pool table and sauna for the use of all of the guests. The building is a charming remodeled home with all kinds of different configurations from just a hotel-like room to the two bedroom condo. Most of the rooms had a refrigerator and microwave, I believe. You can rent as many of these as you like or the whole house if you want! It is very reasonable and the breakfast was delicious. Eggs, waffles, pancakes and as much as you want. You were also offered a nice bowl of fruit and coffee, juice and cereal. Terri does the cooking herself. There were people staying there with children of all ages when we went. The beds were definitely comfortable and there was ski storage and boot warmers in the garage, where you enter after skiing. The shuttle to the base comes down the road about 50 yds. As Bob says, it is the “best kept secret” in Beaver Creek! -Thanks For Everything!
